FAQs

Mandurah Boat Charters FAQs

Q. Who drives your boat?
A. When you hire a boat from Mandurah Boat Charters one of our staff will drive your boat. All our staff are fully-qualified with a minimum Commercial Coxswain Grade 1 ticket. They are also all qualified to provide First Aid in the event of a medical emergency.

Q. Where does your boat leave from?
A. Most of our charters depart from our office at 13b Dolphin Drive in Mandurah and end at the same place. However, we are more than happy to start and end your charter from any Mandurah canal jetty that’s suitable for the boat you’ve chartered. We can also pick up and drop off from Boundary Island Brewery and the jetty close to Little Stiller and Betty’s Burgers in town.

Pickups further afield, up the Murray River for instance, are no problem but we need to check the suitability of the pickup point and in some cases add travelling time to your charter for pickups like this – just give us a call on 9535 5399 to discuss your specific pick-up or drop-off requirements.

Q. Do we pay for fuel?
A. No. All fuel costs are included in your boat hire charge.

Q. What time should I turn up for my hire?
A. On the day of your booking we ask that you arrive 15 -20 minutes before your allocated hire time so that we can go through our safety briefing with you and ensure that we get underway on time so that you can enjoy your full hire time on the water.

Q. Do you cater for wheelchairs?
A. All our boats have wheelchair ramps. If one of your party is a wheelchair user we ask that you let us know so that we can discuss your specific requirements in advance of your charter with a view to making your experience as enjoyable and comfortable as possible.

Q. How far can we go?
A. Our cruising grounds extend as far as the Ravenswood Hotel on the Murray River and south to the Port Bouvard marina.

For short cruises we take a leisurely trip around the Mandurah canals and waterways. In the summer guests may wish to take a swim at Boundary Island (the actual island – not the brewery!).

Q. Do you serve alcohol?
A. All our boats are BYO alcohol except for specific cruises where we have partnered with a winery or distillery to do a tasting.

We provide large Eskys and ice for your drinks and can provide glasses if necessary.

Q. Can we bring our own food?
A. Yes! We have a folding table that you can use to serve food and we can also provide picnic plates if you don’t want to bring your own.

Q. What’s your policy on smoking?
A. All our boats have a strictly ‘No Smoking’ policy.

Q. Can we play our own music?
A. Yes! All our boats have a Bluetooth stereo system that you can hook up to.

Q. Can I bring my dog with me?
A. On private charters yes you can! We’re huge dog lovers here at Mandurah Boat Charters so we love it when our guests bring along their well-behaved canine friends.

Please note however that if you’re looking to book on one of our scheduled cruises that are open to the general public then unfortunately it’s not possible to bring pets on board.

Q. Is there a toilet on the boat?
A. Yes. All our boats have toilets.

Q. What do I bring?
A. Always bring appropriate clothing for the weather remembering that even in the summer months it can be cool on the water, especially in the evening in December when Christmas Lights tours take place.

Sunglasses are a must, as is sunscreen, along with drinking water. If you’re looking forward to a swim don’t forget your bathers and a towel…and don’t forget to bring a phone or a camera for those dolphin pictures!

Q. Can I charge my ‘phone on the boat?
A. We have limited ‘phone charging facilities aboard our boats if you get caught short but it’s best to ensure that your ‘phone is fully charged before your cruise.

Q. Where can I leave my car?
A. For charters/cruises departing from our office at Dolphin Drive there is a large public car park directly to the rear of the building offering unlimited free parking.

Q. Do you have wi-fi on your boats?
A. We are currently working on installing wi-fi on our boats.

Q. What kind of safety equipment do you have on board?
A. All our boats have life jackets for every person on board along with life jackets specifically designed for children. The boats also have life rings.

Q. Can I buy a gift voucher?
Gift vouchers are the perfect way to get your favourite people out on the water for a cruise. Our gift vouchers start at $100 and can be used to pay for part (or all) of a Mandurah Boat Charters cruise, including Christmas Lights cruises. We can organise a printed version of your gift voucher or we can email it direct to the person of your choice.

If your question’s not answered above then please do give us a call on 08 9535 5399 or drop us a line at info@mandurahboatcharters.com.au and we’ll do our very best to help get you and your favourite people out on the water!
